We came to Bangladesh in 1972 and after a year of language study we spent our first 2 terms working with tribal people and the local Bengali village at our jungle station we called Hebron.
In 1981 we moved to the big city of Chittagong where we have been involved in leadership training (through mentoring and our Bible College) and church planting.
Over the last 25 years we have been involved in the establishment of 6 churches. In two of those we were there from the beginning to the end. We have both been involved in writing courses and books to provide Christian literature for Bangladeshis.
At present George is working on a course book for the book of Romans, and Shirley is finishing up a book for youth to help them to make godly choices in their lives.
We continue to work in Chittagong, Bangladesh, and are almost completing our 36th year since our first arrival in this country. Our ministry here has included church planting, leadership training through mentoring and teaching in the Bible college, writing Biblical and culturally oriented literature for the people of this country, discipling, and giving piano lessons (Shirley). In the last couple of years George has had an increased ministry in all the churches as they ask him to come and teach or preach. In the last 3 years we have also been involved in the camping program as George was given the responsibility of supervising that ministry.
Update: The Webers are now retired...still ministering with ABWE...but living in Washington State. They will continue to be involved in the work in Bangladesh...but at long distance...making several trips a year to the field. Pray for them as they seek ministry opportunities in Washington.
