Hardwood Floor Refinishes

Hardwood Floor Refinishing

One of the most significant benefits to hardwood floors is that they can be refinished to like new conditions. The greater Puget Sound offers wonderful examples of hardwood floor longevity. Historical Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, and Magnolia homes still have their original turn of the century hardwood floors portraying great character and beauty. Hardwoods are the focal interior design element of these richly classic neighborhoods.

Hardwood floor refinishing is a way to maintain your existing hardwoods. When your hardwood floors are looking dull, or if you notice wear in high traffic areas with several dents and scratches, don’t delay scheduling a refinish.

You can also use a refinish as an opportunity to make additions, change the current stain color, or long overdue repairs. A flooring refinish can remove damaged floor boards and replace them with new boards, giving a seamless appearance between the new and existing flooring.

Hardwood floor refinishing is a simple cost effective process. It begins with sanding away the stain and finish down to the bare wood. The sanding process removes any standard wear such as dents and scratches.  The impurities are filled with a full trowel filler, followed by fine sanding and buffing.  Concluding with an optional stain color and finish (solvent or water based finish) are applied to seal and protect the floors.
