The Purpose of AMU:

• To Prepare Missionaries for Missions Service with Alternative Missions.

• To Encourage Ongoing Personal Development of Staff.

• To Facilitate a Caring Missions Community.

While involved in Alternative Missions as an intern or staff member there are several ways to develop as an individual and as a missionary.

1. Complete the intern assignments.
2. Initially as an intern and then periodically as a staff member prayerfully review your SHAPE worksheet and Personal Ministry Plans and Goals worksheet. Evaluate where you are on your life journey and what you should be doing to get where you want to be next. Are there goals to reconsider or add? There may be books, classes or other things you should be doing to prepare for your future.
3. Mission locations may have an internship program with specific assignments or activities for you.
4. Each location staff should take on a pastor/friend/mentor role and help you evaluate where you are, what you need to be doing to grow and be equiped, and encourge you to do so.
5. While participating in the weekly staff blog you will come across books or other helpful suggestions that other staff members are involved with that you may want to consider doing as well.
