HASCO Receives 75 More Vouchers to House Veterans

U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki announced today that they will provide HUD rental vouchers and VA case management to 610 more homeless veterans - 50 in Alaska, 50 in Idaho, 185 in Oregon and 325 in Washington state.   HASCO has been awarded 75 vouchers - the largest number in the region.

HASCO Receives a United Way Gold Award

The Housing Authority was presented with the United Way Gold Award for outstanding service to the people of our community.  HASCO’s staff is consistently generous in donations to United Way to help meet the needs of individuals and families in Snohomish County.  The Gold Award is given to businesses with over 50% of staff contributing to the United Way campaign and an employee per capita gift of at least $75.

HASCO Given 945 Children’s Books

HASCO is pleased to be a recipient of a Page Ahead grant which will provide 945 books to be distributed to children in all age ranges living within targeted Housing Authority properties.  These books will be distributed at three reading events occurring this year.  At each event, reading activities will be held to encourage children to learn the love of reading and to develop and strengthen literacy skills.

HASCO makes Draft Agency Plan available for public comment

HASCO is currently seeking public comment on its draft 2012 Public Housing Agency Plan updated during a 45-day review period which runs from January 28, 2012 to March 12, 2012.  The Agency Plan is a HUD requirement and outlines HASCO's goals and objectives for the coming year.  The Plan is also available for review at our office between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM on regular business days. 
 
To be considered for incorporation into the Plan, comments must be submitted in writing to Kristen Cane at 12625 4th Ave W, Suite 200, Everett, WA 98204 or kristen@hasco.org by 4:30 PM on March 12, 2012.
 
Comments can also be submitted at a public hearing on the Agency Plan update that will be held in the HASCO Board Room (12625 4th Ave W, Suite 200, Everett, WA 98204) on March 5, 2012 at 11 AM.

HASCO’s Section 8 Department Remains a High Performer

HUD reviewed HASCO’s performance on the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) and awarded HASCO a score of 100 out of 100 points.  HASCO was again declared a high performer for fiscal year 2011 (July 2010-June 2011).  The SEMAP assessment rates housing authorities on 15 indicators covering every aspect of the Section 8 program including applications, annual re-certifications and inspections.
