New LEED® Accredited Professionals at CDi Engineers
LYNNWOOD, Washington (July 8, 2008) – CDi Engineers is pleased to announce that four of its staff members recently passed the exam administered by the Green Building Certification Institute/U.S. Green Building Council to become LEED® Accredited Professionals: Frank van der Harst, Debbie Hernandez, Sean Abbott, and Daniella Moreano.
Frank van der Harst is a senior plumbing designer with more than 27 years of experience in mechanical systems design for a variety of projects. His recent project experience includes MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital’s New Patient Care Tower,Puyallup, WA; Seattle Fire Station No. 2 Renovation, Seattle, WA; Westfield Fox Hills Mall Expansion in Culver City, CA; and the U.S. Coast Guard Shore Ops Building in Seattle, WA, that achieved LEED Silver Certification. Frank is a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers.
Debbie Hernandez is a marketing specialist with nearly 18 years of experience in the A/E/C industry. Her responsibilities at CDi involve various marketing functions including proposal management and communications. She has a degree in Environmental Studies from Seattle Pacific University.
Sean Abbott is a registered mechanical engineer with eight years experience in mechanical design, project management, field investigation, and technical sales. Sean possesses a strong conviction for energy conservation and sustainable design. He is working on projects that include: Oak Harbor High School Renovation and Addition, Oak Harbor, WA (pursuing LEED certification); Providence Everett Medical Center’s New Central Utility Plant, Everett, WA; Seattle Fire Station No. 2 Remodel, Seattle, WA; and St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, WA.
Daniella Moreano is a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is a mechanical designer currently working on several healthcare projects, including Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital Bed Tower in Portland, OR; Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus Central Utility Plant, Everett, WA; and Good Samaritan Hospital’s Patient Care Tower in Puyallup, WA, which is being designed to obtain LEED Silver Certification.
Building for a sustainable future is key in the design of CDi’s projects. Actively seeking opportunities to improve operational efficiency, minimize energy usage, and employ environmentally clean sources, CDi projects often meet or exceed requirements for LEED certification. The firm is known for engineering workable projects that are successful not only for clients, but also for building owners and users, and the entire community. Nearly half of the firm’s technical staff members are LEED Accredited Professionals, and two staff members are also Certified Sustainable Building Advisors (CSBA).
