Directions to SCC

• From Aurora Ave head west on NE 160th Street
• Turn right on Greenwood Ave N
• Turn left on Innis Arden Way
• Take an immediate right turn after the parking ticket machine (do not take a ticket)
• Take an immediate left turn into Parking Lot E10 (this is the Faculty and Staff Lot but it is free to members and guests of RCR during our meetings)
• The PUB is right next to this lot, go up the stairs to enter the PUB or enter the ground level at the bookstore and use the elevators
• Rain City Rotary meets in the Quiet Dining Room across from the coffee bar

Rain City Rotary was founded on the principals of fellowship between members and active service to the community. The mission of Rain City Rotary is to faciliate fellowship between members and families, and to actively serve the community and the world through service that makes a difference to human life.

  Following the weekly Roundtable and discussion of club business, members form committees for Service Projects, Club Administration aka Club Fun, Membership, Rotary Foundation, and Public Relations.  Please join us and help plan the future of Rain City Rotary.
  
  The meeting will be held in the PUB at SCC.

Saturday August 28th, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

• Monthly Community Service Project:  Shoreline Back to School Event at North City Elementary

  The Back to School event is a community effort that provides school supplies, hair cuts, and clothing assistance for families in the Shoreline School District who are living with a low income and/or experiencing circumstances in their life that make it challenging to prepare their children for going back to school in the fall.  For more information, visit www.btsconsortium.org

• Weekly Meeting and Program: Cecile Andrews on Simple Living.
  
  Cecile is author of the books "Less is More" and "Slow is Beautiful:  New Visions of Community, Leisure and Joie de Vivre".  Cecile is also the founder of the Phinney Ridge Ecovillage, a project to build Sustainability and Community in her North Seattle Neighborhood.  For more information visit, www.cecileandrews.com

• No Regular Club Meeting. Volunteer Opportunity at our Adopt-A-Road assignment on 15th Avenue NE.
  
  Meet us at the intersection of NE 155th Street and 15th Avenue NE in Shoreline to pick up garbage along 15th Avenue NE from NE 145th Street to NE 165th Street.

• Monthly Fireside: Tour of Kruckeberg Gardens.

• Weekly Meeting and Program: John Matthews, District Governor (District 5030)
  
  John Matthews, Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management for Costco and a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Mercer Island, took on the voluntary role of top administrator for some 3,300 Rotarians in King and South Snohomish counties.  John will talk about what our District plans for this Rotary year.

• Monthly Community Service Project:  Exterior Painting at Fabric of Life Boutique in Edmonds.

  The Fabric of Life retail store is a DBA of the Schillios Development Foundation, dedicated to cooperative partnerships that improve people's access to affordable credit, education, and health care.  The boutique sells fair trade goods from cooperatives around the world and is located at 523 Main Street in Edmonds.  For more information go to www.schillios.com.

• Weekly Meeting and Program:  Diane Steward on Puget Sound Christian Clinic. 
  
  Located in North Seattle, this clinic provides medical, dental, and mental health services to the low-income uninsured population of King and Snohomish Counties. For more information, go to www.pschristianclinic.org
