Blackberry Storm vs iPhone

When the Blackberry Storm came out I had this plan to be at the store 1 hour before they opened to make sure I got my Blackberry.  Well I ended up missing my alarm clock, sleeping in and frantically speeding to the store with my rader detector on.  I was not going to miss my chance to get my Blackberry Storm.  I got there and to my relief the girl told me they had plenty in stock.  My first impress was this thing is so cool looking but how do I use it.  I tried making a phone call and looking up someone's name in the address book and It was not intuitive.  And then I tried to type on the screen and that was just not working for me.

Yes later I got used to thing and I have stuck with it and primarily for the reason that I am very optimistic Blackberry will get this thing right since they have done so weill with thier other phones in the past.  Thier products are solid, reliable and intutive.

After now owning this thing for almost 3 months I can tell you the pros and cons.

Pros:

1. Beautifull estitics of the phone and the software.  It's all very polished.

2. Stable, with the right firmware update it's solid.  As for the firmware there are all kinds of beta versions fof it floating on the internest for you to try.

3. The Integration with Blackberry Enterprise Server is incredible.  Blows Microsoft Exchange active sync away.  If you loose your phone or you wipeout your existing software when you reconect your new phone to your Blackberry Enterprise Server, all your personal setting's are restored from your bluetooth profiles to any personal settings.

4. The built in GPS system works great.  It even accurately tells you when there is traffic ahead.

5.  The largest Pro and the reason I kept it is because it's on the Verizon network not AT&T.

Cons:

1.  The touch screen is clumsey, and inacurately sensitive.  And the touch screen barely works when the phone is cold and does not work with gloves.

2. Setting up the Blackberry Enterprise Server, you better get an experience IT Support companies for this task.

3.  Limited applications.  The iPhone has crazy amounts of applications for it.

4. The web browser is slow and slow to respond to page moving and resizing.

5. The camera is simply an excuss for one.

So if you have to get one and you have a Microsoft Exchange Server or need one of those too get Zypes your Outsorced IT company to make it happen.

I'm pretty happy with the iPhone. The biggest complaint I have about it is the network. AT&T has not been very good at all. I previously had T-Mobile which had way better support.

I can say that the iPhone UI is leaps and bounds ahead of anything I've seen. And the App store is pretty amazing. Also, Mobile Safari is a great browser.

I've had a 3G iPhone since last July (2008), and the phone is absolutely incredible. It is essentially a pocket sized computer. The build quality of the iPhone is better than any mobile device (phone, PDA, etc.) I've held. It just feels really solid and the fit and finish is precise.

The screen is awesome. It does rely on heat sensitivity to function, but the fact that it is optical glass makes it extremely durable. I used to have a screen protector film overlaid on it, but this eventually got scratched up and wasn't looking crisp anymore so I removed it. I actually prefer just the iPhone's glass screen.

The iPhone user interface is the cleanest, most polished, and most well thought out of any mobile device (and even some other non-mobile devices).

The amount and variety of applications available is astonishing—nearly everything you could think of is out there now or probably being developed. Much, much superior to anything else. The iPhone has the best mobile web browsing I've experienced—period. (Better than Windows mobile, and far better than Palm or Blackberry.)

AT&T's poor wireless coverage is my only real gripe, however the speed of their 3G data network is pretty decent.

I could not imagine giving up my iPhone now—I'm totally hooked!
